Faith Under Question: Courage, Conscience, and Challenging Sacred Power

I recently joined host Elo Oghenevwede Splendour on Elsplend Realities for a conversation that goes far beyond surface-level discussions of faith.

Elsplend Realities is a podcast rooted in real stories and lived experience, exploring faith, emotions, and personal growth through honest and courageous dialogue. In this episode, Elo and I explored what it truly means to confront deeply rooted institutions with integrity, courage, and an unwavering conscience.

Our conversation centered on faith alongside accountability and truth-seeking. We spoke openly about the often hidden histories of women’s leadership within the Church, the very real cost of silence, and the emotional, spiritual, and ethical toll that comes with challenging systems that resist change. These are not abstract ideas. They are lived realities for those who choose integrity over comfort and truth over approval.

We also reflected on the false divide that is often created between faith and critical thinking. For me, faith and conscience are not opposites. They belong together. Speaking truth to power is not an act of rebellion for its own sake, but a necessary expression of ethical leadership rooted in love, justice, and responsibility.

This episode is an invitation to reflect on why transparency matters not only within religious institutions, but in every space where authority shapes human lives. It is a conversation about resilience, accountability, and the courage required to name what has been hidden for too long.

I am grateful to Elo for holding space for this dialogue and for creating a platform where truth, faith, and thoughtful inquiry can coexist.
