I was a guest on the Webcast, “Locker Room For Growth,” with host Debbie Elicksen.
She called this webcast, “Standing Brave Against the Catholic Church.” When I thought about that title, it took me back to thoughts I had before I finished writing my book, “Scandal in the Shadows: The Original Priest – Mother Mary.” I initially questioned myself, who am I to write a book that would be seen as controversial in nature, even though in actuality, it was presenting the truth rather than misinformation on the subject of women Priests’ history in the Catholic church. I knew what I said in my book had to be the truth since I obviously would be questioned on the source of that truth. Thus when I speak on this topic it is from the position of truth which affords me the courage to indeed, speak out on this wonderfully special truth of Mary Mother Of God, being a Woman Priest.
The truth is, if ever there was a time in our church when women priests were needed, now is that time. The current priest shortage if anything is going from bad to worse.
Why is our church not using part of its own past history to quell in some way this ever-increasing daily loss of priests? The Church hierarchy back in the 1970s saw a decline in men entering the Priesthood, and yet, they were doing nothing until they were literally forced to do something. The answer involves bringing back a previous history involving women priests and women deacons.
When one examines the Catholic Church’s history, there is a discernible pattern that is very present, whether it involves not acknowledging their church’s own past history regarding Women in Religious roles, to not following their own Church’s Commission findings. What exactly might be behind their reticence on these matters?
The sad truth is, that women in Priestly Positions occupy that early part of church history, that is never acknowledged by them. And in 1976, The Pontifical Biblical Commission said, “there is no biblical reason to prohibit women’s ordination.”
For any reader, what might be your thoughts on the way your church is operating regarding women, whether in the past or present? This truly is the time for any member of the laity of this church, to speak up. Specifically, why is our hierarchy not being made accountable for their shameful dereliction of duty toward women’s inequality in this church today?
